John Burger, Executive Director of the Association of Southeastern Research
Libraries recently announced that Christine
Fruin, J.D., M.S.L.I.S., will serve as our Visiting Program Officer for
Scholarly Communications. Fruin is the
Scholarly Communications Librarian at the University of Florida. Her one-year
term as VPO will start in April. Fruin
has been very active in cultivating a statewide interest group in Florida,
worked closely with UF’s University Libraries Committee to draft UF’s
first-ever Open Access Policy, and brings a wide network of professional
contacts and expertise to this role.
As VPO, one of Fruin’s roles will be to interview scholarly communications/open access leaders within ASERL as the basis for a series of articles on the evolving nature of this work, highlighting the lessons our members have learned, and identifying common themes and possible best practices.
