Just in time for Bastille Day, or La
Fete Nationale, the Lucille Little Fine Arts Library is exhibiting our copy of Paris 1937. This book was commissioned at the time of the
Exposition Internationale des Arts et
Techniques dans la Vie Moderne (International Exposition dedicated to
Art and Technology in Modern Life), which was held from May to November of
1937. Prominent artists and writers of
the day contributed, etchings, essays, and poetry for the publication, which
was limited to 500 copies. The exhibit
features the prints by Matisse, Dufy, Bonnard, Laurencin, Moreau , Marquet and
other artists.
