Kopana Terry of Special
Collections has been featured in the new book Women Drummers: A History
from Rock and Jazz to Blues and Country. Kopana
is featured in Chapter 11 of the book by author Angela P. Smith. According to
Kopana, “[s]he briefly explains my experience as a drummer, from my Appalachian
roots to my current status as a librarian at the University of Kentucky.” Her
final quote is: ““Never take no for an answer, and never ever let a group of
middle-aged white men tell you they won’t change the name of the band because
you’re a girl. Go make your own… band and wipe the stage with them.” To
