Kopana Terry of Special Collections has been featured in the new book Women Drummers: A History from Rock and Jazz to Blues and Country. Kopana is featured in Chapter 11 of the book by author Angela P. Smith. According to Kopana, “[s]he briefly explains my experience as a drummer, from my Appalachian roots to my current status as a librarian at the University of Kentucky.” Her final quote is: ““Never take no for an answer, and never ever let a group of middle-aged white men tell you they won’t change the name of the band because you’re a girl. Go make your own… band and wipe the stage with them.”  To learn more about Kopana and her art, visit her site at http://www.kopana.net.
