King Library Press in LETTERPRESS exhibit

Work by King Library Press is on display as part of an exhibition showcasing the art of fine printing in the commonwealth. "LETTERPRESS: Kentucky’s Fine Printers," opens Sunday, September 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and runs through December 18 at the Portland Museum, 2308 Portland Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky.

Curated by Gray Zeitz of Larkspur Press in Monterey, Kentucky, "LETTERPRESS" features the work of 12 Kentucky printers, including Paul Holbrook, director of King Library Press at UK Libraries. Other printers with work on display are:

·      Bob Baris, Press on Scroll Road, formerly of Lexington
·      Nick Baute and Robert Ronk, Hound Dog Press, Louisville;
·      Alex Brooks, Lexington;
·      Tim Hawley, of Contre Coup Press, Louisville;
·      Deborah Kessler, of October Press, Lexington;
·      Susan King, of Paradise Press, Lexington;
·      James Milllar, of Quonset Hut, Louisville;
·      Joanne Price, of Starpointe Studio, Louisville;
·      Brad Vetter, of Letterpress & Design, Louisville
·      Gray Zeitz, Larkspur Press, Monterey, Kentucky


"LETTERPRESS" is part of the Portland Museum's "Celebration of the Book: A Year of Book Arts" made possible by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Louisville Metro Government. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to Portland Museum Inc. with state tax dollars and federal funding from the NEA.
