For the fourth year in a row, William T. Young
Library Reference Services hosted a beginning-of-semester Welcome Desk in the atrium of Young Library. Staffed by volunteer faculty, staff, and students from across UK Libraries, the
desk was the place students, parents, and other campus visitors could go for answers to all types of questions not only about UK Libraries, but also
about the UK campus and community.
In addition to handing out brochures, maps, and UK
Libraries promotional items, faculty and staff answered questions including one of the most popular, “Where’s the new Starbucks?”
The Welcome Desk operated from August 19 to
September 2 and answered a total of 2,094 questions. Thanks to everyone who
welcomed our new students and their families.
