Sandee McAninch presents on WPA Historical Records Survey Publications at ALA

Sandee McAninch
Regional Depository Librarian Sandee McAninch recently presented "Needles in the Haystack of History: How to use the WPA Historical Records Survey” at the meeting of the American Library Association in Las Vegas.

The presentation emphasized that “After seventy years, The Work Projects Administration Historical Records Survey (WPA HRS) remains one of the best discovery tools for government records from the 1700s through the early 1940s.”

Sandee and her colleagues explained what the HRS is and its value to historians and family history researchers. They also offered strategies for how to track down present-day locations of archival material described in the HRS. Sandee described UK Libraries' ASERL (Association of Southeastern Research Libraries) Center of Excellence collection of publications from the Works Progress/ Work Projects Administration.
