UK students travel to Cuba, host exhibit in Medical Center Library

A group of first year medical students, along with UK faculty from the College of Public Health, recently traveled to Cuba on a People-to-People Travel License, funded by Witness for Peace, in order to learn about the Cuban health care system. As part of their educational experience, they were able to delve into Cuba’s tertiary health system and speak with health care providers and patients. Additionally, the delegation visited community outreach centers that focused on prevention and social justice, as well as local artists and musicians. The exhibit provides a snapshot of their time in Cuba including an awareness poster addressing stigma against homosexuality, various works of art by Saulo Serrano, and other handmade crafts. The exhibit will be available in the Medical Center Library through the end of May.
