Mary Vaughn retires from Medical Center Library

Mary Vaughn, clinical reference librarian and web coordinator, is retiring after 18 years at the Medical Center Library effective November 4. For the past 10 years, Mary has been one of two clinical librarians for pediatrics at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, participating in sit-down rounds and morning report on a weekly basis.

“We appreciate Mary’s contributions and many years of service to the MCL and we are excited and happy for her as she enters the next chapter of her life,” says Rick Brewer, head of the Medical Center Library.

Prior to coming to UK, Mary spent 11 years as the reference librarian and web coordinator at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. The New Orleans native, whose husband’s family is from around London, Ky., is looking forward to retiring in Lexington.

Mary is planning on gardening, reading good books, and traveling. She wants to go Ireland where her family is from, and has definite plans to visit Puerto Rico “to spoil my five-year-old granddaughter.”

Mary says, “I’m going to miss the people at the Med. Center Library the most; they are a nice group of people who work really well together.”

Thank you Mary for your service and best wishes for all your future endeavors.
